Chair – Conservation, Community and Planning Group

The Conservation, Community and Planning (CCP) group is an essential part of the Dorking Society which is passionate about making sure Dorking is fit for the future. How do we ensure Dorking is the best place to live, work or visit? We are looking for someone with good leadership and organisational skills as well as someone who can help us to grow this group by engaging with the members and the public. You will lead a small team of volunteers who have lots of experience in dealing with significant planning applications and issues relating to the conservation of our heritage. We want to be able to lead the way on insightful thinking when any issue arises whether that be traffic, new developments or environmental issues.  We need a leader who will be excited by the potential to influence the development of the town.

Treasurer – The Dorking Society

The Dorking Society is looking for a Treasurer.  The society comprises three operationally independent units, namely, Dorking Museum, the Local History Group (LHG) and the Conservation, Community and Planning (CCP) Group. The Museum and
LHG have their own treasurers who work under the strategic direction of the Society treasurer. This is a volunteer role which could take as little or as much of your time as you wish. 

The Treasurer advises the trustees on financial matters, sets policies and standards, prepares and monitors a budget. We are looking for someone who can prepare the year end accounts and manage relationships with bankers and investment managers.

Secretary – The Dorking Society

The Dorking Society is looking for a Secretary to support the trustees.  The Secretary would also be a trustee of the Society, which comprises three operationally independent units, namely, Dorking Museum, the Local History Group and the Conservation, Community and Planning Group. This is a volunteer role which could take as little or as much of your time as you wish. 

The Secretary advises the Chair of the Trustees and the trustee board on governance matters, arranges all trustees meetings and AGMs and ensures that they are properly documented. The Secretary also manages all dealings with the Charity Commission and Companies House.
